Just been catching up with Eileen Temple's messages here in the guestbook. I was lucky enough to be one of the people she was able to catch up with through this site. It's great to see and hear her pleasure and excitement and it's a tribute to the site. Well done Dave and team.

I have just been alerted to this web site by my cousin Malcolm Wilkinson. I lived in Seaham for only a few months during the worst of the blitz, never the less because of the family I have a compelling affinity to the community. I am looking forward to exploring the entire web site

Just found this website dont know why I havent seen it sooner. Its fascinating and so well done. I have always had a great interest in Seaham's history but never much time to pursue it until now. I shall enjoy going through all the pictures and info. I also have a number of relatives in Canada and the US who still look back with fond memories of Seaham. I shall certainly be telling them about the site

Hi, Peter, I think I went to school with your sister Marie. If I am on the correct Baxter family, I would love to make contact with Marie again. We went to school together at St. Mary Magdalene and then on to St. Anthony's grammar school in sunderland.
I have lived in South Australia for the last 46 years. Since I found this wonderful site, I have made several contacts with people back in Seaham. It makes the world seem small.
Cheers!!!

I was born in Ilchester Street, Dawdon in 1947. My parents were Tommy and Theresa. My dad worked at Dawdon Colliery from the age of 14 to 65. My brother and sisters were : Neil, Marie and Anne.
Although my family and I now live in Yorkshire, and have done for some 29 years I have very fond memories of Seaham and so many great people. Nostalgia !

In Shoebox / Gleghorn there is a photograph of Fred Gleghorn with the William Newby Cup. Can anyone tell me when it was first competed for, is it stil competed for and if not, what happened to it. Is it possible to get a photograph of it?

I hope that you all had a good Christmas and New Year.
I have spent time over the holidays exploring your new and improved site - so much information - I love it.
I think all my family come from the Seaham area and it's great to see how the place was when they were alive.
I am intrigued by the photos of the Seaham Thistle players. I think that maybe W Davison might be a family member. Do you have any more info about the team and its players.

TRISTRAM HEPPELL 1877-1937.
Tristram Heppell was my grand uncle. He was born and died in Seaham Harbour and is buried in Princess Road Cemetery.
He was a famous and very successful jockey in the late 1890s and early 1900s.
I would be delighted to hear from any descendants or receive any information of pictures about him.
Many thanks. Kind regard, Graeme Lacey

GEORGE CHALFONT HOLLEY 1870-1950
G C Holley was the husband of my grandaunt Elizabeth Holley (nee Heppell).
He was a carpenter at the bottleworks and an "amateur" painter. My father George Holley Lacey was named after him.
I have one of GCHs oil paintings and would love to hear from any of his descendants or receive any information about him and my grandaunt that anyone has.
Many thanks. Kind regards, Graeme Lacey

Hi everyone, Ihave just found this site and cant tear myself away from it. Does anyone remember my late husband Alan Temple? He played football for Crompton & Harrison and was often mentioned in the Sunderland Echo. WE left for Australia in DEc. 1962. I worked for National Coal Board at Dawdon, and later Vane Tempest offices.
Would love to hear from anyone who remembers us.
